Former Washington Commanders quarterback Robert Griffin III appeared to take a literal victory lap after the team beat the Detroit Lions 45-31 in the NFC divisional round Saturday.

In a pair of videos he posted to X, Griffin praised the Commanders and rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels. One of the videos, which is accompanied by Eminem’s “Lose Yourself,” shows the 2012 Pro Bowler jogging around his neighborhood while reveling in how Washington proved its skeptics wrong.

The Commanders toppled the NFC’s top seed thanks in large part to a brilliant performance from Daniels. The first-year star went 22-of-31 for 299 yards and two touchdowns through the air, adding another 51 rushing yards.

It’s not as though Daniels went overlooked during the regular season. He was named to the NFC Pro Bowl squad, and fans wasted little time in questioning whether the Chicago Bears erred in picking Caleb Williams over him in the 2024 NFL draft.

Seeing Daniels deliver in such a high-stakes situation further validated all of the praise he has received.

Before the postseason got underway, the Commanders were largely considered one of the outsiders among the field. Now, they’re shaping up to be a serious threat. The momentum they built with their five-game winning streak to close out the regular season has carried over to the playoffs.

As Griffin suggested, this is a team you can envision lifting the Vince Lombardi Trophy when all is said and done.
