Legendary quarterback Tom Brady had his personal memorabilia and watch collection auctioned off on Tuesday for an eye-popping total.
Per Eduardo Tansley of The Athletic, “The GOAT Collection: Watches and Treasures from Tom Brady” auction by Sotheby’s in New York brought in a combined total of $9 million. Among the items in the auction were Brady’s Super Bowl LI playcard wristband, his 2000 NFL Combine shirt, his final college jersey and multiple high-end watches.
Eight hundred participants from 45 countries took part in the auction, which featured 41 items to bid on. The highest-selling item was a yellow gold Rolex Daytona “John Player Special” that Brady wore when Patriots owner Robert Kraft informed him that he would be inducted into the team’s Hall of Fame. The watch had the highest presale estimate of the collection with $600,000 to $900,000 and ultimately was sold for $1.14 million.
