See ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic, Will Forte Cover ‘Hot to Go!’ at Thundergong!

Jason Sudeikis and Flavor Flav also cover Public Enemy’s “Bring the Noise” Saturday at all-star Kansas City concert

“Weird Al” Yankovic and Will Forte performed a (surprisingly straightforward) rendition of Chappell Roan’s “Hot to Go!” Saturday at Jason Sudeikis’ annual Thundergong! benefit concert in Kansas City.

While Yankovic is known to either skewer or polka-fy contemporary hits, Forte instead suggested the duo play it by the book during the all-star concert.

“You are known for taking current songs and changing the lyrics around, but what if we sang a song right now that’s current where we didn’t change the lyrics?” Forte said.

“Not change the lyrics? What a novel concept, that’s a great idea. Let’s do it,” Yankovic responded.

The duo then launched into a faithful rendition of the Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess hit, complete with the track’s trademark dance moves.

Yankovic and Forte’s performance wasn’t the only surprise duet at Thundergong! as Flavor Flav also dropped in to perform Public Enemy and Anthrax’s “Bring the Noise” alongside Sudeikis, whose Thundergong! concerts annually raise money for the the Steps of Faith Foundation, an organization that helps amputees pay for prosthetic limbs.

Last year’s event featured Ted Lasso co-stars Sudeikis and Hannah Waddington also reunited onstage to cover Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga’s A Star Is Born standout “Shallow,” while Waddington and fellow Ted Lasso actor also delivered a take on the B-52’s “Love Shack.”
