Basketball fans should know to never rule anything out when it comes to LeBron James, so the idea of the 39-year-old playing alongside a second son in the NBA shouldn’t even seem that far-fetched by now.

Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com noted Thursday that former Cleveland Cavaliers teammate Tristan Thompson brought up the idea of James one day playing with his son Bryce, who is 17 years old and a senior in high school.

“Oh s—,” James said while laughing when asked about those comments and the overall idea. “Bryce is a senior. I don’t know. We’ll see. We’ll see. That would be pretty cool. It’s all about my mind and then seeing how my body reacts over these next couple of years.”

James already made history by playing with his son, Bronny, on the Los Angeles Lakers this season.

They became the first father-and-son duo to share the court together when Los Angeles opened the season with a win over the Minnesota Timberwolves. Wednesday marked more history for Bronny James, as he scored his first career points in a loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Cleveland was a fitting setting for the basket, as he lived there as a child when his father was the leader of the Cavaliers. And the crowd at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse had a sense of the moment and responded with a standing ovation when he checked in during a game that felt like something of a homecoming:

It is a testament to LeBron James’ incredible longevity that he was able to remain in the NBA long enough to be teammates with his son for such a moment.

After all, this is the 22nd season of his illustrious career. If he was also going to playing alongside Bryce, he would have to play at least into a 24th season since his son has to be a year removed from high school to enter the NBA draft.

Fedor noted the younger James has received scholarship offers from Ohio State and Duquesne as he continues his own career that may very well end up in the NBA as well.
