Jayden Daniels’ Hail Mary vs. Bears Was ‘Like a Movie,’ Says Commanders’ Sam Cosmi | News, Scores, Highlights, Stats, and Rumors

Washington Commanders offensive guard Sam Cosmi thought the finish to Sunday’s 18-15 win over the Chicago Bears could only have been crafted by Hollywood scriptwriters.

Cosmi said Jayden Daniels’ Hail Mary to Noah Brown was “like a movie.”

“Front-row seats to something amazing,” he said. “That was just crazy. This will always stick in my head forever. What a moment.”

Standing on his own 35-yard line, Daniels launched a prayer toward the end zone. The ball was deflected into the waiting arms of Brown, who was standing all alone and waiting for a possible tip.

Everybody dreams of connecting on a Hail Mary in the final seconds to win a game.

It’s a moment without parallel because there’s nothing like watching it actually work. With all due respect to kickers, a game-winning field goal simply can’t compare.

A successful Hail Mary to win an NFL game is relatively rare. Sunday’s was the first since 2020when Kyler Murray and DeAndre Hopkins hooked up to beat the Buffalo Bills in the final seconds. The last one before that was in 2015.

Daniels’ heave to Brown will gain more significance if the Commanders wind up making the playoffs. At 6-2, Washington remains in first place in the NFC East, so this is shaping up to be a special year for a franchise that has experienced plenty of mediocrity for the last decade.
