HPA Awards Winners Include ‘Dune 2, ‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’

“Dune Part 2” won a pair of awards in the feature competition at the annual Hollywood Professional Association Awards on Thursday at the Television Academy in North Hollywood.

It won trophies in color grading, which was awarded to Fotokem colorist David Cole, and in sound, which was presented to the team. Also in the feature competition, Kevin Tent received an award for his editing on Alexander Payne’s “The Holdovers” and a team from Weta FX won the VFX category for “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.”

In feature animation, Disney/Pixar’s “Inside Out 2” topped the category for color grading while Netflix’s “Ultraman: Rising,” which was animated at Industrial Light & Magic, claimed the VFX trophy. The eligibility period ran from September to September.

It was a big night for FotoKem, which was honored with the Charles S. Swartz Award for industry contributions.
