Fuerza Regida and Grupo Frontera Release Joint ‘Mala Mía’ EP

Two years after the release of their chart-topping “Bebe Dame” hit, música Mexicana stars Fuerza Regida and Grupo Frontera have released a joint EP dubbed “Mala Mía.” The five-song set is produced by Latin Grammy-winning and Grammy-nominated producer Edgar Barrera, alongside Miguel Armenta, Grupo Frontera, Fuerza frontman Jesus Ortiz Paz, and Moises Lopez.

“Mala Mía” blends each group’s individual styles of Tejano and cumbia and traditional corridos with modern hip-hop, Latin, and dance influences. The collection was recorded in Fuerza Regida’s hometown studio in California.

Thematically, the EP follows the story of a tumultuous love affair, detailing a complicated, love triangle — at the center of it all is a woman who keeps her lover a secret. In a press release, “SOS” and “Coqueta” are described as lyrically exploring the “complexity of intense, passionate relationships that blur the line between love and lust.”

Fuerza Regida — featuring Paz, José “Pelón” García, Moisés López, Khrystian Ramos, and Samuel Jáimez — are regular Latin chart-toppers. Their 2023 set, “Pa Las Baby’s and Belikeada,” landed the group its first top 20 on the Billboard 200, where it peaked at No. 14.

Grupo Frontera has delivered chart-topping singles and collaborations, namely their massive 2023 hit, “un x100to” with Bad Bunny. They have also released music with Shakira, Peso Pluma and more. Barrera has been writing for the group since he discovered the band at a friend’s tire shop opening party in his hometown some 40 miles from McAllen, Texas. Earlier this year, Grupo Frontera released their sophomore album, “Jugando A Que No Pasa Nada.”
