AI is creating ‘drive-through of the future,’ Presto CEO says

Wendy’s (WEN) says it will expand artificial intelligence (AI) ordering at 500 restaurants in 2025. Gee Lefevre, CEO of Presto, a company that powers drive-through ordering with AI for Carl’s Jr., Hardee’s, and other fast-food chains, joins Asking for a Trend with Julie Hyman to discuss the company’s work, reactions from restaurants and customers, how the tech is developing, and more.

Lefevre says the “biggest thing” that makes the company stand out from others is its specialization in the restaurant space.

“Presto has got 15 years of heritage in the restaurant space. We’re not just a technology company, and we actually understand how restaurants work. It’s all very well putting flashy technology into somebody’s drive-through, but if you don’t understand how to operate a drive-through or what matters in a drive-through, that’s going to become a problem quite quickly.”
