Donald Trump—who has a long, documented history of bigotry—told Black and Hispanic people on Tuesday that they should have their heads “examined” for supporting Kamala Harris.
Speaking at a rally in Atlanta, the ex-president told the crowd: “Any African American or Hispanic…that votes for Kamala, you got to have your head examined. Because they are really screwing you.”

It’s a line that Trump has previously used against Jewish people, having declared in April that “any Jewish person that votes for a Democrat or votes for [Joe] Biden should have their head examined.” He then repeated that line in August, saying Jews who vote for Harris “should have their head examined.” (More recently, the former president announced that if he loses in November, Jews will be to blame, saying last month, “If I don’t win this election…the Jewish people would have a lot to do with a loss.”) He also wrote on social media last month, “Any Catholic that votes for Comrade Kamala Harris should have their head examined,” and said at a September event: “If any senior does not vote for Trump, we’re gonna have to send you to a psychiatrist to have your head examined.”
Trump, who has literally dined with a white supremacist at Mar-a-Lago, frequently insists that he’s done more for Black people than virtually any other president. In 2020, for example, he declared that the only president who has maybe come close is Abraham Lincoln, who, as a reminder, freed enslaved people. So there’s definitely someone here who should have their head examined, and—spoiler alert—it’s not any of the Black or Hispanic individuals voting for Harris.
