…The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in West
Virginia…
Greenbrier River At Alderson affecting Monroe, Summers and
Greenbrier Counties.
.Runoff from the heavy rain Thursday and Thursday Night has resulted
in a significant rise on the Greenbrier River. Minor flooding is
occurring along the Greenbrier River within Greenbrier County, and
downstream of Alderson into Summers and Monroe Counties.
For the Greenbrier River…including Alderson…Minor flooding is
ongoing and is expected to continue through most of todady.
* WHAT…Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast
to continue today.
* WHERE…Greenbrier River at Alderson.
* WHEN…Until around 1230 AM EST Saturday morning.
* IMPACTS…Impacts…Between 12 to 14 feet, flooding begins along
portions of Route 3 and Route 12 downstream from Alderson near
Eagle Branch, making these highways impassible. At 15.0 feet, Farm
land along river bank near the gauge becomes flooded. Flooding is
also likely upstream toward Ronceverte.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– At 10:45 AM EST Friday the stage was 15.1 feet. Flood stage
is 14.0 ft.
– Bankfull stage is 14.0 feet.
– Recent Activity…The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
ending at 11:00 AM EST this morning was 15.3 feet which
occurred between 715 and 730 AM EST this morning.
– Forecast…The river is expected to fall below flood stage
later this afternoon and continue falling to around 5.1 feet
Wednesday morning.
– Flood stage is 14.0 feet.
– Flood History…This crest compares to the crest that just
occurred February 1, 2025, and a previous crest of 14.7 feet
on 02/18/2023.
