‘Fireball’ meteors possible over US tonight as South Taurid meteor shower peaks

Two meteor showers with long, broad peaks will bring “shooting stars” to night skies worldwide this month, starting tonight.

First come the South Taurids, which run from Sept. 23 to Nov. 12 and peak overnight on Nov. 4-5. Then come the North Taurids, which are active from Oct. 13 to Dec. 2 and peak overnight on Nov. 11-12.
