2024 MLB playoff bracket: ALDS, NLDS schedule for Yankees vs. Royals, Phillies vs. Mets, more

The divisional round in Major League Baseball’s 2024 postseason is in full swing, and the New York Mets and San Diego Padres are both one win away from reaching the NLCS. The Mets returned to Citi Field for the first time in 16 days on Tuesday and took down the Philadelphia Phillies to take a 2-1 lead in their best-of-five series. The Padres closed out the night with a one-run win over the Los Angeles Dodgers courtesy of a huge second inning.

All four of the best-of-five series were tied after Game 2marking the first time that’s happened in MLB playoff history. The two American League series — Guardians vs. Tigers and Yankees vs. Royals — resume Wednesday in Detroit and Kansas City, respectively as part of an action-packed four-game day.

In the Wild Card Series last week, the Tigers knocked out the Houston Astros, while the Royals eliminated the Baltimore Orioles. Both AL Central underdogs won the best-of-three series in two-game sweeps on the road. The Astros saw their streak of seven consecutive ALCS appearances come to an end, while the Orioles are now 0-5 in the playoffs in the last two seasons.

Over in the NL in the wild-card round, the Padres took care of business and swept the Atlanta Braves. The Mets, meanwhile, won their first playoff series since they made the World Series since 2015, beating the Milwaukee Brewers in the round’s only decisive Game 3.

The League Championship Series begin on Sunday, Oct. 13, and the World Series will begin either on Tuesday, Oct. 22 or Friday, Oct. 25. Check out the complete 2024 MLB playoff schedule.
